February "Mom of the Month"

Meet Marina, our February "Mom of the Month" and longest active member!

Who is in your family?

Me, my husband Sergey and our three wonderful kids - 9 year old Andrew, 4 year old Sonya and 5 months old Maya.

Why did you first come to FIT4MOM?

I have restarted my journey with FIT4MOM three times, every time for different a reason and in a different location

I first heard about the program when Andrew was born. Back then we lived in Santa Monica, and I went for a trial Stroller Strides class. I wanted to lose baby weight but baby Andrew was too impatient and couldn’t sit through the class. So I didn’t come back.

Next time I gave it a try when Sonya was little. We just moved from Los Angeles to Los Altos. I was a tired and lonely stay at home mom. I was looking for a way to add some self-care to my parenting routine, I wanted to recharge my energy and make new friends! There was a Stroller Strides class very near to where we lived, and I started coming there as often as I could… Till that location and the franchise was closed.

When it reopened in Las Palmas Park in Sunnyvale, Sonya was almost 1 year old. I joined the program, looking for consistent, fun and kid friendly outdoor workouts, and a welcoming community of moms. I have been with FIT4MOM ever since. Coincidentally, we moved again, this time to Mountain View - both my family and my favorite program.

What is your favorite part of class?

Taking shower after class. Just kidding. It doesn’t happen till late at night.

I love stretching and taking three deep breaths together in the end! It always fills me up with gratitude and feeling of togetherness.

Favorite restaurant in Silicon Valley?

We don’t go out much and rather prefer to treat ourselves with take outs. So any restaurant that has a curbside pick up option is good enough for me (there are usually 3 kids in the car with me)! My very favorite place is Mendocino Farms in MV. I also like Pacific Catch and State of Mind Pizza house. And Taro San serves amazing homemade udon noodles.
