If you’re breastfeeding and wondering when (or if) you can start moving your body again… this is your reminder:
You don’t have to choose. You can do both.
And when done gently and intentionally, movement can actually support your postpartum journey.
Why Movement Helps
In the fourth trimester, even light movement like walking or mobility work can:
- Boost your energy
- Support your mood
- Improve circulation and healing
- Help you feel more like yourself again
This isn’t about workouts. It’s about feeling good in your body again.
What About Milk Supply?
This is one of the biggest concerns we hear, and here’s the truth:
Low to moderate movement does not negatively impact your milk supply.
So yes, you can walk, stretch, and ease back into movement with confidence.
Hydration Is Everything
Breastfeeding already increases your need for water, and movement adds to that.
A simple guideline:
- Sip water consistently
- Aim to hydrate before, during, and after movement
- Check your hydration by urine color (pale = hydrated)
When you’re hydrated, your body and your baby both benefit.
