The Truth About Postpartum Recovery

The first six weeks after birth are often the most intense. Sleep is limited. Your body is healing. Your baby needs you constantly. This is not the time to “bounce back.” It is a time to recover, reconnect, and be supported.

Your postpartum checkup, typically around 4–8 weeks, helps assess how your body is healing. But here is what many moms are not told clearly enough:

Healing is not one-size-fits-all.

Your recovery depends on:

  • Your birth experience (vaginal or C-section)
  • Any tearing or surgical healing
  • Your core and pelvic floor health
  • Your overall physical and emotional wellbeing
